Effective, targeted and digitally or technologically enhanced marketing is key in any international tourism marketing effort.

The Ghana Cities Guide Project therefore, seeks to adopt and adapt digital technology to market Ghana as a competitive quality tourism destination.

Another important aspect of this project is to cause a gradual paradigm shift from the present emphasis on fragile MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions)/ business tourism to the more sustainable leisure tourism activities.

Promotional activities for the Ghana Cities Guide products including its maiden edition The Official Accra City Guide are scheduled as follows:

  • A Press launch took place in March 2015 to kick-off activities. It was attended by sector Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development
  • The Official National Product Launch is scheduled for mid- Sept 2016 in Accra to showcase and effect the first distribution of the Accra City Guide to the supervising authorities, all key stakeholders, sponsors, donor agencies, implementing bodies, the travel trade, media, etc.
  • The first International Product Launch is slated for early November 2016 in London alongside the World Travel Market (WTM) 2016.
  • A second International Product Launch is scheduled for late November in the US or in August/ September 2017.
